Last week the IRD announced that they had obtained the contact details for 10,400 Australian resident student loan debtors from the ATO. They are now seeking the same details from the UK's HM Revenue & Customs, and from tax authorities in other countries. The IRD has used debt collectors in the UK for some time, but this proposal will strengthen their ability to locate debtors and to force them to pay.
